Okay, after several hours (and several breaks) the hand sewn leather steering wheel cover is done. This job involved cutting down the width of the leather band due to the little skinny diameter of the wheel rim, regluing the hemmed edge and punching new holes for the lacing thread. Makes for sore fingertips but, DONE!

I finally found a supplier of the correct size defroster hose so I also installed all four pieces needed. I only took pictures of the under dash hoses so use your imagination for the other two under the hood.

After hearing from Germany that they finally agree the handles are wrong for a left hand drive car, I re installed the handles, installed all the weatherstripping, the window trims with the fuzzies and all four end caps. I also started the installation of a hand sewn-on steering wheel cover. More on that later.

Well, I finally received the package from Germany this morning and guess what! I got right hand drive door handles even after questioning them before I placed the order. I guess I am just going to have to bite the bullet and use them. I'm not sure if or when I will ever have to lock the car, it will just be inconvenient to have to get out ,walk around, reach through to lock the drivers door, and then shut the passenger door and lock it with a key. Rats!

Still waiting. USPS seems to have lost the package between here and Jersey City. They claim it is still on it's way. (via 20 snail team)

I had the chance to install all the weather-stripping on the drivers side. I can't install the window and trims until I get my new door handles from Germany, supposed to be here next Tuesday, here's hoping. Anyway, the window channels, the window weatherstrip around the roof, the body weatherstrip around the door and the door weatherstrip itself are all on and dried. I also adjusted the door latch so the door closes properly.

Unfortunately the swap didn't work out. When the cylinder gets moved to the other side of the car it also gets turned upside down due to the gating in the inside of the case for the lock cylinder. The problem with this is the tumblers are allowed to slightly fall out and they catch on the interior of the handle. This locks the push button in the in position and has to be reset by inserting the key to withdraw the tumblers. Not good, they are being returned in the morning to the vendor.

I forgot to take pictures after finishing the weatherstrip and window installation. I have already turned the car around so I can work on the drivers side so you will just have to look at the inside and use your imagination. You can see the door pull and window roller is now in place. The door handles were for the European market, having the lockable one on the right side. Fortunately, the lock cylinders are screwed to the handles so I was able to swap them over.

This is the  drivers side handle
